BD3 provides a 3-dimensional environment in which it performs a time simulation of construction stages for concrete pre- and post-tensioned structures. The analysis provided by BD3 is appropriate for concrete segmental bridges built in cantilever or span-by-span (or any construction method), concrete cable-stayed bridges as well as composite structures.

BD3 Key Features:

  • Time-dependent analysis of construction
  • 3D Construction Simulation
  • No limitations
Number of Elements (Nodes, Segments, Tendons, Material, etc..)
    Number of Construction Phases
  • Flexibility
    Model Geometry
    Construction Phases
    Service Module
  • Composite Sections
    Exact composite solution
Differential Creep and Shrinkage with Self-Equilibrating Stresses
  • Cable-Stay Construction
    Stressing by Force or Elongation
Non-Linear Stays – Catenary Curve for Cable Sag and Stiffness
    Temperature change in Stays
  • Service
    Non-Linear Temperature Gradients
Customizable service code – LRFD and BS5400

Graphical User Interface BD3GUI
BD3 users may display the 3D model and results using BD3GUI in the same fashion as BD2 models may be viewed with BD2GUI. The user interface is very similar with excellent overall compatibility. The features of the current release of BD3GUI include:

  • Wireframe, surface and solid rendering
  • User defined transparency level
  • Zoom in/out and panning
  • If the transverse geometry of the cross-section is given, BD3UI generates external and internal surfaces.

Using the various display and viewing capabilities of BD3GUI, users can rapidly evaluate a 3D model for consistency. Specifically, a user may:

  • Use the standard views – front, back, left, right , top and bottom as well as isometric view
  • Rotate the model to any angle for evaluation of the geometry
  • Display top view of post-tensioning tendons to verify horizontal layout and plan-view curvature.
